MUSCAT: Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) will mark the Olympic Day on December 15 with several activities, sports competitions and a series of traditional games. This was decided at the fifth meeting of OOC’s Oman Sport and Active Society Committee under the chairmanship of Khalid bin Ali Aadi, committee chairman; in the presence of Taha bin Sulaiman al Kishry, OOC Secretary General. The committee reviewed several issues and most importantly approved the Olympic Day programme for this year and noted the latest developments relating to this event.
The meeting also discussed the programmes and events of the Olympic Day. Several organisations, including Oman Women’s Society and centres for people with special needs as well as other private and government organisations will take part in the event. Targeting all segments of the society, the event will be staged in Muscat (Al Sahwa Parks) and Dhofar Governorate (Al Dahareez Beach). The National Olympic Committees normally celebrate the Olympic Day on 23rd June every year in coordination with the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
