MUSCAT: The Oman Investment and Finance Company (OIFC)’s ‘Khedmah’ participated in the celebrations of International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The celebrations were organised by the Ministry of Social Development of the Sultanate.
The activities of the celebrations included marathon race which started from Al Seeb Sports Stadium.
The OIFC-Khedmah participated in the event as part of its social welfare programme. The company consciously supports CSR initiatives and actively participates to serves the community respectively.
The International Day of Persons of Disabilities 2017 was organised with the slogan of ‘Transition to a sustainable and resilient society for all’. This is aimed at adopting the goals of sustainable development and their role in building a more inclusive and equal world for persons with disabilities.
The objectives of 2017 are also to assess the current status of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the goals of sustainable development, and to lay the foundation for a brighter future for the people with disabilities. It is also aimed at appreciating the efforts to empower people with disabilities in various sectors, as well as to encourage the community for their equal participation as active and influential player in the society.
The International Day of Disabled Persons is celebrated on December 3 every year to create awareness about the rights of persons with disabilities in the society.
