New YORK: Dr Ali bin Talib al Hinai, Under-Secretary for Planning Affairs at the Ministry of Health, (pictured) has been conferred with the prestigious UN Interagency Task Force (UNIATF) Award. Al Hinai was selected from among seven nominees working for health ministries all over the world for his outstanding contributions towards prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and related sustainable development goals in the Sultanate.
The award was presented on the sidelines of the third high-level meeting on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) as part of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly. The United Nations Interagency Task Force (UNIATF) on the Prevention and Control of NCDs coordinates the activities of relevant UN organisations and other inter-governmental organisations to support governments on NCDs. The commitments were made by Heads of State and Government in the 2011 Political Declaration on NCDs.
