Occidental Oman receives students from Miami University

MUSCAT: Occidental Oman recently hosted 18 undergraduate students, one faculty member, and one organiser representative from Miami University, Ohio, as part of a study abroad programme titled “Gulf Economies in Transition.’’ The visit was in coordination with Inspire Oman Educational Consultants, an Omani SME.


The group visited a number of companies and organisations in Oman. During their trip, the group visited Occidental Oman and were welcomed by Eng Said al Balushi, Senior Vice President Technical, and were also briefed about the oil and gas sector in Oman and its importance in strengthening the GDP of the country, as well as its economic effects. The guests were also briefed on Occidental Oman’s operations and facilities in the Mukhaizna and Safah fields, as well as the company’s sustainability initiatives and its SME Development Programme.


The programme aims to introduce students to the global market place and world of international business development. The students participated in a number of cultural activities and met with local and global leaders to learn firsthand from experts in various fields. In addition, the programme aims to develop the visiting students into more culturally aware future global leaders.
