OCCI organises Oman-S Africa friendship association seminar

MUSCAT: Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) on Monday organized the Omani-South African Friendship Association, which coincides with the South African business delegation’s visit to the Sultanate with the objective of exploring means of enhancing trade and investment relations between the two countries. Abul Azeem bin Abbas al Bahrani, Director General of OCCI, said that the Sultanate has made great achievements on the socioeconomic levels. This is very clear in the GDP index, which increased more than 300 times to stay at about RO 31 billion in 2014, RO 27 billion in 2015 as per the statistics of National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).


He pointed out that with regard to partnerships and business relations between the two countries, available statistics show that the value of the total imports from South Africa stood at RO 15 million in 2015 compared to exports wroth of RO 129 million, including RO 13 million Omani origin products and RO 116 million re-exported materials. South Africa is No 15 in the list of the key exporters to the Sultanate and No 43 in the list of importing countries from the Sultanate. — ONA
