OBD to launch new banking strategy

MUSCAT: The celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Oman Development Bank (ODB) and ceremony to launch of its new strategy will be held at Hotel Sheraton under the auspices of Darwish bin Ismaeel bin Ali al Balushi, Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs, today (December 26).


This is part of the efforts of the bank to keep pace with the recent trends in developmental financing as well as growth of the Sultanate. The bank has the policy to support the national economy and strengthen the role of the private sector in productive and services sectors by adding value to the sustainable development financing. It has the ambition to make the idea of self-reliance in products and goods a reality and hire large number of national manpower.


Abdulsalam bin Nasir Al Kharousi, Deputy Chairman of the ODB, will deliver a speech about the achievements of the bank during last 40 years, in a ceremony which will be attended by officials and guests. During these celebrations, a documentary film would also be presented about the history of the bank in financing major economic projects of various productive and services sectors.


The film would include details of the facilities provided by the bank and opinions of beneficiaries about it.


During the celebrations, salient features of the new strategies of the bank would be presented by Dr Abdul Aziz bin Mohammad al Hinai, the executive officer of the bank.


The bank would practice these strategies in future financing of the developmental projects to keep pace with the meaning of the developmental financing and its role in diversification of the economy,


The experiments of Malaysia in the development of small and medium enterprises would be shared by Dr Hafsa Hashim, chief executive officer of the SMECorp Malaysia, at the occasion. At the end of the event, the minister responsible would launch new logo of the bank.
