OABC hosts art exhibition showcasing Omani talent

MUSCAT: The Oman American Business Centre (OABC) is organising an iftar banquet and art exhibition celebrating the talents of local Omani artists who overcame physical disabilities to create impactful works of art.
The event that will be held at the Hormuz Grand Hotel today, will welcome OABC members and the Guest of Honour Marc J Sievers, US Ambassador to the Sultanate, and guest speaker Safiya al Bahlani (pictured), one of Oman’s most inspirational artists and motivational speakers.
Al Bahlani, despite being born with significant physical challenges, was able to find her passion and through the arts has continued to inspire people across the world. She has held five solo exhibitions, four collective ones, and participated in two TED X Talks as well as SAM Global.
Alongside her inspiring opening speech, the event also will display works of art by disabled Omani artists for purchase.
Ali Daud, President of the OABC, said, “The event will provide us with invaluable insight into the power of the human spirit to triumph against all odds. Art has the power to inspire, encourage and motivate us to go beyond to maximise our potential and it is a privilege to learn firsthand from Al Bahlani on how we can all overcome whatever difficulties we face.”
The gathering will provide OABC members and other guests with an opportunity to engage with artists from Oman who were able to overcome their physical disabilities.
Focusing on the role of art and creativity to help people reach their full potential no matter what their circumstances may be, the iftar reception and art exhibition will pay tribute to
the indomitable spirit of the artists on display.
The iftar and art exhibition event will take place at the Sacra meeting room at the Grand Hormuz Hotel and is open to the public. OABC Members can attend the event free of charge and non-members can take part for RO 13.
