MUSCAT, SEPT 6 - In partnership with world-renowned firm Crowe Horwath International, the Oman American Business Centre (OABC) will be organising a special seminar to discuss the details of the recent changes to Oman income tax laws and answer key questions from entrepreneurs and the general public.

Scheduled to be held on September 13 from 8:00-10:00 am at the Centara Muscat Hotel in Ghala, the event, titled ‘10 Things You Need to Know about Oman’s New Tax Laws’, will be delivered by expert Davis Kallukaran, Managing Partner at Horwath Mak Ghazali, a Crowe Horwath International affiliate.

Open to everyone including residents, businessmen, and SME owners, the seminar is set to provide attendees with invaluable insight and information on the recent changes to the tax laws.

“This is the first time Crowe Horwath and the OABC have hosted an event together and attendees can expect a comprehensive, high-powered seminar that will answer all their questions and offer them an opportunity to connect with Oman’s business community,” Kallukaran, commented.

“Many residents and expats are asking questions about the new laws, which are effective from the current year. We are proudly sponsoring this seminar to do our part and help OABC members as well as our own network and the general public fully understand and make solid plans to adjust to these changes,” he added

According to recently released statistics, less than 10 per cent of the estimated 300,000 businesses registered with the Oman’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry currently file their tax returns.

The government’s new legislation will help bridge the gap, increase tax revenue, and stimulate small business activity.

Rebecca Olson, Executive Director of the OABC, said, “Our members represent many nationalities and range from SME’s to large international companies that will no doubt be affected when the amended tax laws are formally implemented. Every aspect of the economy, will be impacted by the revamping of the tax laws which is why this seminar will be integral for businesses operating in every sector of the economy. This seminar will help them successfully navigate the upcoming changes and fully enjoy the benefits it provides.”

Prospective attendees are welcome to register or email any queries to meruyert.shagmanova@oabcoman.org.
