MUSCAT: His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tareq al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA), presided over the meeting of the Board of Directors of NRAA. During the meeting, the Board discussed the progress of work related to NRAA’s directions and future plans. The Board approved the minutes of the previous meeting of the Board of Directors and reviewed the implementation of the decisions. Dr Hamad bin Mohammed al Dhoyani, NRAA Chairman presented a report reviewing the most important developments and changes that took place since the last meeting of the board.
The Board adopted the final report of NRAA for 2017, in addition to adapting the approved NRAA budget for 2018 and linking the budget to the implementation of the approved action plan for the programme and activities of NRAA for this year. The Board of Directors, chaired by HH Sayyid Haitham discussed the topics on the agenda of the meeting, which will provide the best training and qualification programmes for the staff, which helps in developing capacities to keep pace with the work in the field of documents and archives. During the meeting, the board was briefed on NRAA’s data center project to take the necessary steps to submit it to the competent authorities in order to obtain the necessary financial resources to establish it.
The board was briefed on the e-document and document management system project, which was prepared by NRAA and the National Testing Center project, in addition to reviewing the work of the safe laboratory for destroying documents in NRAA, in addition to the discussion of recycling of the byproducts of safe laboratory for destroying documents. The board also reviewed NRAA existing trends on the creation of an integrated project for a book that highlights historical and civilizational aspects of Oman during various historical periods. The board also reviewed NRAA’s programs in establishing a number of activities, conferences and documentaries inside and outside the Sultanate. — ONA
