Muscat, Aug 13 - For the first time, you can order groceries online in Oman. markeetex.com is Oman’s first online hypermarket services, which will initially operate within the jurisdiction of Muscat City. Speaking to the Observer, Sara al Shidani, market analyst and production development, MarkeetEx, said the company is owned by Omani investors. The management team has over 17 years of experience in the field of servicing business and government clients. She said MarkeetEx was started less than six months ago, enabling consumers to place orders through a mobile app and get the delivery within 60 minutes.

“I ordered a range of items such as milk, chips, vegetables, spices and cereals and it was delivered in less than one hour’s time. Prices are also competitive,” said Amer, who had a first-hand experience of the service. “In Oman, we can now book taxis and order food through mobile apps. With the grocery service now, Muscat is getting smarter,” said Rajeev Nair, an executive. MarkeetEx has its own logistics fleet that currently covers Muscat region. It is working on formulating the service standards with regard to the last-mile delivery promise, vendor relationship agreements and franchise agreement.
