The National Day, celebrated on November 18, stands as a “common birthday” of all Omanis. Simply, the day is remarkably distinguished from the other 364 days of the year. It marks a day of national accord, reflecting one’s loyalty and pride of being Omani.

It is the time for expressing tribute and gratitude to our benevolent wise leader His Majesty Sultan Qaboos for his great efforts and achievements in making Oman a prosperous country; a heaven for citizens and residents alike.

Since his first day of ascension to the throne, His Majesty has been dedicating his time and effort to build the nation and ensure a better life and bright future to his people. This has been obvious from His Majesty’s first address to his fellow citizens: “My people, I will proceed as quickly as possible to transform your life into a prosperous one with a bright future.”

These words were a promising hope to Omanis who are living the fruitful outcomes of this promise today. Omanis listened and believed in him as a visionary leader and a man of mission. Therefore, all citizens who had migrated overseas to make a living, returned to help build the nation, which was witnessing a facelift in all spheres of life.

His Majesty left no stone unturned to fulfil his promise and transformed Oman into a peaceful and prosperous land it has become. Today, Oman is known as a land of hospitality and an oasis of peace and tranquillity; it is known worldwide as a politically stable and liberal country.

Looking back over the past 47 years, we realise how far the Sultanate has reached and developed in all walks of life. The great achievements have spread in every corner of Oman. All are outstanding outcomes of the country’s rapid progress reflecting His Majesty’s sincere dedication and sacrifice to serve the nation and its people.

In a very inspiring speech, His Majesty declared: “The land of Oman and its people are in my heart and in my thoughts and the job I have taken on is a duty, not a ceremonial honour.”

The National Day mirrors the prosperous journey of Oman’s rebirth. Along with His Majesty’s personal commitment to the national development, he called upon all Omani citizens to shoulder the responsibility and play an active role in building their country. He believed it was an essential policy that the people should work closely with the government like different organs of one body.

As Oman celebrates its 47th National Day, all citizens express their thanksgiving to His Majesty’s wise governance in the past years of the blessed Renaissance. This auspicious day is also time to renew our pledge to the caring and openhanded leader as well as for safeguarding, consolidating and taking active part in the joint efforts towards the nation-building process.

Nothing can be said in response to the fabulous efforts and accomplishments made by His Majesty to his loyal people throughout the past over four decades, but expressing profound gratitude and tribute to the loving father of this nation. All words of thanks and appreciation are insufficient to value His Majesty’s gestures to the citizens since his ascension day to the throne.

We Omanis have many reasons to be grateful and proud of our country. Oman is the land that defines our identity; it is the land we belong to and will die for. Our homeland continues to be always a safe and picturesque haven for citizens and residents. As well, it provides a traditional, warm and hospitable welcome to its visitors.

Happy National Day to all.
