MUSCAT: Whispers of Serenity, the first mental wellness clinic in Oman, launched the unique initiative ‘Not Alone Convoy’ in December 2016, where mental health issues were discussed in the different regions of the Sultanate.

The convoy visited six cities namely Seeb, Musandam, Nizwa, Sur, Sohar and ended with Salalah. In its unique journey, the convoy was able to emphasise the significance of mental health as well as shed light on many of the touristic attractions and hidden gems of the Sultanate.

Led by Sayyida Basma al Said, the team celebrated this success with an extraordinary event at the Grand Millennium Hotel in Muscat on May 20, coinciding with the Mental Health Awareness Month.

The event commenced by displaying the highlights of each of the convoy’s destinations, capturing the memorable moments in many of the videos.

This was complemented with short talks presented by the volunteers who described their experience in this volunteering campaign as well as the benefits they gained and the opportunities they were granted to showcase their talents.

The informative yet entertaining event was met with great appreciation from the audience, which included a number of highly important individuals, inculcating within them the importance of mental health and advising them to support those who are struggling thereby reassuring them that they are ‘Not Alone’.

The convoy is proud to have been a principal contributor in raising the calibre of awareness regarding mental health issues both locally and internationally.

The team of psychologists and professional experts presented practical solutions to prevalent issues such as stress, anxiety and depression, as well as a first-aid kit to facilitate the tackling of mental health problems before augmenting.

Whispers of Serenity Clinic extends its sincerest gratitude and appreciation to the Grand Millennium Hotel for hosting the event and to all the attendees for supporting the cause. They also expressed thanks to Dr Madeeha Al Shibaniyah, Minister of Education, Dr Abdulmunim al Hasani, Minister of Information, Maitha al Mahrouqi, undersecretary, Ministry of Tourism, and Alden Theatre Group for their coverage of the event, Classic Music and Arts Institute, the volunteer teams that contributed to the success of the convoy including the Omani Woman Associations in the different regions and finally, all the media channels for their excellent coverage of this event as well as the convoy’s previous destinations.
