Non-sponsored tourist visa extended to more nationalities

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) on Wednesday issued a new list of countries whose citizens will be offered non-sponsored e-Visa.


The new list includes Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bhutan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Georgia, Honduras, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.


Recently, the ROP had said all passengers from India, China, Russia who reside in or hold visa to any of the following countries — United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Schengen states — can obtain non-sponsored tourist visa.


As per the guidelines, the applicant should have a valid passport for a period of not less than six months, the applicant must be a resident or holder of a visa from one of the following countries (USA, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom and Schengen States), provided that his residence/visa in these countries is valid when applying for visa.


The applicant must have a return travel ticket as well as a confirmed hotel reservation.


The competent authority shall not allow any nationals of those states who are eligible to obtain the visa if the public interest so requires.
