Non-communicable diseases initiatives reviewed

Muscat: The Ministry of Health (MOH) organised a workshop on Wednesday on Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) at the Institute of Health Sciences. The workshop was attended by Dr. Said al-Lamki, Director General of Primary Health Care, along with Dr Noor al-Busaidi, Director of National Diabetes & Endocrine Center. Number of directors of primary healthcare services of various Governorates, as well as medical staff of different health centres in the Sultanate were participated in this workshop.


Dr Al Lamki praised in his speech to the role of the NCD Department’s staff in organising such workshop which aims to review the initiatives of the health services directorates in the Governorates on NCD in 2016.


The workshop addressed number of issues related to the national action plan and strategy to tackle NCDs and self-management of chronic diseases.


It also discussed various health issues on diabetes programme and national NCD screening programme, asthma, mental health programme, eye and ear health programme, disability programme, cancer registry, as well as chronic renal failure.


The workshop was attended by Dr. Said al-Lamki, Director General of Primary Health Care, along with Dr. Noor al-Busaidi, Director of National Diabetes & Endocrine Centre.
