Muscat: The Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman has said that no teachers teaching in schools

affiliated to the CBSE should engage in private tuition.

Confirming to the Observer, a top board member said that the circular was issued in the wake of several complaints.

He added that the board is working on a plan that will address the concerns of students who may need special attention.

It violates the rule 39 of the CBSE Affiliation bye-laws, said the board in a statement. “Law of the land in Oman has also made it illegal to have tuition centres at home as it involves concern for the safety of children that cannot be taken for granted in such centres."

The board has urged all school principals to ensure that teachers of respective schools, right from kindergarten to X11, are not engaged in private tuition with immediate effect.

“This involves including physical education, dance and music teachers and disciplinary action will be taken against teachers who fail to comply with the decision,” the statement said.

The board has asked for a compliance report by September 10, 2018.
