By Staff Reporter — MUSCAT:  May 2 - The Ministry of Oil and Gas in a statement said that there will be no changes to the prices of cooking gas sold to the consumers. The statement said that the government has decided to unify the prices at which cooking gas is sold by producers to bottling companies as of May 1. It added that the decision does not include any changes to the selling price of the cooking gas to final consumers. It may be noted that as per the letter issued by Salalah Gas Company, around 75 per cent of the cooking gas is supplied by Orpic at a price of RO61 per metric tonne. While only 25 per cent of the gas supplied by the Petroleum Development Oman is provided at a lower price to the bottling companies, the decision to unify the prices should not impact the customers. This clarification from the ministry was following rumours that the prices are cooking gas will be going up this month. There were demands that action against those responsible for spreading misleading information.
