Nizwa crowned U-19 basketball league champions

MUSCAT, May 5 - Nizwa clinched the U-19 basketball league title after beating Ahli Sidab 52-68 in the final match at the main hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex late on Friday. Dhofar finished third after they registered a thrilling 67-73 win over Al Seeb club in third place-off match. Younis bin Khamis al Zadjali, head of competitions committee, at Oman Basketball Association, was the chief guest for the final and gave away the trophies and medals. The final match was attended by Dr Marwan Juma al Juma, chairman of Ahli Sidab and Salim al Mahrooqi, vice-chairman of Nizwa club, in presence of top officials.


Osama al Riyami from Nizwa club grabbed the top-scorer prize in the league. Al Riyami also became the best assistant game maker. Ahmed al Sinani from Ahli Sidab club won the most valuable line player award. Mohammed al Anqoodi from Nizwa club grabbed the top-three scorer prize. The match was officiated by Thani al Khalasi, who was the main referee. Ali al Salmani was the second assistant referee while Mansoor al Nahri was third referee. Maryam al Zadjali, Sumaya al Rashdi and Thabit al Hinai were the registered referees.
