MUSCAT, Sept 8 - The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, will celebrate the anniversary of the noble Prophet’s migration, which marks the beginning of Islamic new year, on Sunday. The ceremony will be held under the patronage of Shaikh Dr Abdullah bin Rashid al Siyabi, Vice-President of the Supreme Court, at the College of Sharia Sciences at Al Khuwair at 10 am, according to a ministry spokesperson. “The ceremony will include recital of verses from the Holy Quran and a speech by Shaikh Sultan bin Saeed, Head of Preaching and Guidance and In-charge of the General Directorate of Preaching and Guidance at the ministry. It will be attended by several ministerial representatives,” he said.

Shaikh Sultan will deliver his speech on the lessons that changed the course of human history and the biography of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and touch upon the relevance of this noble occasion in the hearts of Muslims. There will also be a presentation of poems and interesting verses to express the meaning of the occasion, including a visual presentation which tells the history of the migration of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and his companions from Mecca to Madeena. “This ceremony is part of the activities of the ministry to consolidate such events in the minds of Muslims and leave a profound impact in them of the lessons and sermons that require standing and reflection and taking into account the spiritual and moral dimensions of the nation in terms of Oman as a highly pluralistic society.”
