By Kabeer Yousuf — MUSCAT: April 11 - Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir (ISWK) will begin its international school from coming academic year with the first batch starting on April 17, according to the School Management Committee. Set in an all-new state-of-the-art building in close proximity to the existing one, the new concept of the age-old school sprouts from the very thought of providing internationally recognised education for the expatriate community in the country with an affordable fee structure.

“We have secured necessary Ministry of Education permissions for the internationally recognised school curriculum and the doors of the school will be open to the children under the auspices of the MoE,” Harshendu Shah, honorary President of the SMC- ISWK said.

Affiliated to the Cambridge Board UK, the ISWKi will also prepare learners to take the ISCSE and AS/A level examinations while offering a conducive environment where the learners recognise their skills, knowledge and constantly improve their conceptual understanding of various topics.

“Our focus will be on CBL (Computer Based Learning) and ILP (Individual Learning Programme) which pays substantial attention to each student and yearns to nurture the skills befitting the challenges faced by the future generation,”

Nizam Qureishi, Vice-Principal, ISWKi said.

Additionally, the new school envisages less books burden on the students in such a way that the idea of homework will be scrapped and the concept of notebooks will be limited to random papers which will be filed in a folder and shown to the class teacher as and when it was needed, they explained.

This is further cemented by limiting the number of students to 24 or 25 in each class while the courses will be administered by highly qualified and experienced hands from overseas. As part of the substantial importance of technology, all classes will be WiFi-connected and Apple labs will make learning even more qualitative with all apple technological gizmos.

Additionally, laptops, projection TV’s and LED monitors will ease the burden of learning, they further said. In-house meals and room for overall personality growth are some other value-added benefits of the school.

“Students of the ISWKi will strive for personal excellence in scholastic as well as co-scholastic areas and will imbibe the core values of self-regulation, respect for elders and consideration for the young and weak, empathy towards fellow humans and acceptance of diversity,” D N Rao, Principal of ISWK said.

Alkesh Joshi, Treasurer, and Shilpa Pawanay, member of the SMC were also present at the media announcement
