NCSI obtains ISO 9001-2005 certification

MUSCAT: The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) has been awarded the certificate of conformity to ISO 9001: 2015 for Quality Management in recognition of its successful implementation of efficient internal work procedures and improved services under its quality framework that provided significant value addition to its partners and stakeholders. NCSI received the prestigious ISO 9001 certification from the top German certification body TUV InterCert, one of the most trusted institutions to award ISO certificates.


Dr Khalifa bin Abdullah al Barwani, CEO of NCSI, said, “The ISO 9001:2015 certification is a recognition of the Centre’s sustained efforts since its establishment towards enhancing statistical knowledge in the Sultanate, which includes spatial and geographical information. Further, the awarding body considered NCSI’s successful implementation of a quality system that ensured dissemination of accurate, up-to-date and relevant data among decision-makers, along with its provision of a host of information services to various segments of the society, before granting us the ISO certification.”


The ISO 9001:2015 standard defines the criteria for an organisation’s quality management system, and considers a number of quality management principles including strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement, among others. — ONA
