MUSCAT: The National University of Science and Technology celebrated the International Pharmacists Day on September 25 at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Bausher. This celebration aims to highlight the effective role of the pharmacist and what they offers in their field of specialisation It also an opportunity to students at different levels of study to participate in an event related to their future career and maintain strong ties with the community. The ceremony was attended by a group of students from the Faculty of Pharmacy and some graduate students and professional pharmacists. They participated in various activities held during the day, such as competitions and a pharmacy workshop with the participation of the Astr Hospital.
Dr Yaseen Moosa al Lawatia, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the National University of Science and Technology, stressed the importance of organising these events, as they represents a good opportunity to educate the various members of society about correct ways of using medicine.
He also emphasised the importance of the work of the pharmacist, which is not limited to the disbursement of medicines to the patient only, but the second line of defence after the doctors in the process of educating the patient by providing counselling and guidance for different and age groups.
The occasion of the World Pharmacist Day is an opportunity to thank the pharmacists for their sincere efforts.
