National Day Cup for Endurance in Barka to begin on January 6

MUSCAT: The National Day Cup for Endurance Competition for 2016-2017 season, will kick off on January 6, 2017 at the Endurance Village in the Wilayat of Barka. As more as 79 horses from different governorates will take part at the competition. The event is organised by Oman Equestrian Federation. As more as 44 horses will take part at the international race for 100 km. 20 horses will take part and the first pre-qualifying race for 40 km and 15 horses will take part at the second pre-qualifying race for 80 km. The horses will be examined on Thursday; 5th January to ensure their readiness for the race.


The international general race is divided into four stages — the first and second stages for 30 km and the third and fourth stages for 20 km each. As more as 15 horses will take part at the pre-qualifying round, which is divided into four stages— the first and second stages for 30 km each and the third stage for 20 km. 20 horses take part at single 40 km stage pre-qualifying race. Oman Equestrian Federation has allocated a vehicle for winner of the first place. It also allocated RO 4000 for winner of the second place, RO 2800 for winner of the third place, RO 1700 for winner of the fourth place and RO 1000 for winner of the fifth place and RO 800 for winners from the sixth to the tenth place. — ONA
