Nama Holding, as part of its various CSR projects and Sustainability initiatives, will support two social welfare organisations.

Accordingly, an agreement was signed between Nama and Omani Society for Hearing Impaired and Oman Association for the Disabled at their premises recently.

Eng Omar Khalfan al Wahaibi, Nama Group’s chief executive officer and Sultan Naser al Amri, chairman of Omani Society for Hearing Impaired, and Yahya al Amri, Chairman- Association for the Handicapped signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that aims to provide sign language training for a number of staff from various entities to enhance the service for hearing impaired people in Oman.

“These initiatives are part of our sustainability programmes for 2017 and we will continue to support the society in whichever way we can”, Abdullah Mubarak al Shukaili, Group Sustainability Manager at Nama Holding highlighted the benefits of this MoU which will enhance services for the hearing impaired, equip different organisations with certified people in sign language and shed some light on this important segment of the society.

Accordingly, the Group will have a first-of-a-kind initiative where some 30 people working in customer service areas in various companies will be trained in collaboration with the Omani Society for Hearing Impaired. It aims at providing better service for hearing impaired people.

“This programme is a kind of ‘Train the Trainer’ and these 30 people will train others in similar capacity after about four to six months”

Nama Group launched its sustainability policy in September 2014 and since then, the Group has been implementing many local projects to support the local communities.

Nama Group has also funded the Oman Association for Disabled to provide 143 driving assistant devices for the disabled.
