Mwasalat to launch operations with 500 taxis by year-end

As part of its efforts to start taxi operations by the year-end, Mwasalat has invited tenders from companies for supply of new cars for its fleet, medical insurance for drivers, car insurance packages, car cleaning services and car paint packages.
The last day for submitting proposals for the supply of cars is August 31.
The company said that it plans to operate 500 taxis, including services from Muscat airport and commercial centres, by the year-end.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications had recently urged Mwasalat to speed up the process of starting the taxi services in the city.
The ministry granted two licenses for operating taxi services — the first one to Mwasalat for operating from Muscat International Airport and shopping malls.
The second one issued to Marhaba to operate from hotels and Port Sultan Qaboos. Both companies will also offer on-demand services.
