MUSCAT, Feb 20: -

With more than 500,000 titles represented by 878 publishers from 28 nations, the 23rd edition of the annual Muscat International Book Fair begins at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre today.

The fair will be held under the auspices of Dr Abdulmunim bin Mansour al Hasani, Minister of Information, and head of the main committee of the fair.

The convergence of titles, authors and bibliophiles from across the country and other GCC countries is set to draw wide interest from children and adults alike.

“The annual confluence of a wide range of titles from across the globe comprising more than a dozen languages has been growing year after year. Today it is on par with some of world’s renowned fairs of this kind,” said Ali al Jabri, Under-Secretary, Ministry of Information.

The event will also see cultural programmes and activities for families, including children, besides community engagement programmes.

The fair, which ends on March 3, gives Arab and foreign publishing houses an “opportunity to introduce institutions and market their publications”.

There will also be a ‘meet the author’ programme, in which some of the favorite authors will interact with the readers.
