Muscat boy wins IAME X30 first round race

Muscat: Sept 22 - Shonal Kunimal, a seven-year-old grade 2 student of Indian School Al Ghubra, has become the winner of the new season of IAME X30 2018- 2019 1st Round of the race held in Dubai Kartdrome on Friday.


Shonal, who has many titles to his name, beat many of his peers from the region and beyond to win the first position in the nerve-wracking race.


He was trained by young Omani Go Karting champion, Sanad al Rawahi for various races held around the region besides the IAME X30.


“I owe a big thanks to all who love and support me, especially my coach and Hamed al Wahaibi, the motorsport legend of Oman and owner of Al Wahaibi Motor Sports — WMS who sponsored me in IAME X30 Series. He has also given me invaluable inputs for the races”, Shonal shared his excitement with the Observer.


has recently won the overall championship at the RMC (ROTAX MAX CHALLENGE and Runner-up in IAME X30 International Go-Karting Championship) in the UAE.

He was also adjudged to be the ‘The fastest and youngest’ racer in his age category at the Rotax Max Challenge Awards Night 2018 at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai in May this year.


“I’m feeling like I’m on the top of the world after receiving the overall trophy of the first position on my debut Championship”, an elated Shonal told the Observer admitting, “I know I have bigger challenges and greater awards to conquer.”


His driving machine for the new season of IAME X30 2018-2019 1st Round of the race was set up by mechanics from Oman, Rayban and Sony Ericsson.
