MUSCAT: The Muscat Municipality has issued a decision revising administrative penalties related to the market regulation, public health and hygiene standards, and protection of the municipality-affiliated facilities. As per the decision, running an unauthorised commercial store will invite a fine of RO 300 beside suspending the commercial activity until a license has been obtained. A fine of RO 500 will be slapped on those running industrial activities without a license. Unauthorised slaughterhouses and poultry farms invite a fine of RO 400 and a fine of RO 1,000 for unauthorised hookah lounges and RO 500 for unauthorised food establishments. All unauthorised stores, shops or establishments will be closed down until a license is obtained. According to the municipal decision, failure to renew a commercial license will invite a fine of RO 200 and temporary suspension.
