MoM can act against salary delays without complaint

In the event of salary delays in the private sector, the Ministry of Manpower (MoM) can take action against defaulting companies even without receiving a formal complaint from the employees.

The new wage protection system will help the authorities concerned to monitor whether salaries have been paid on time, the MoM has said.

The MoM and the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) will have an online system for monitoring violations in the payment of salaries.

The system can track whether the terms of contract have been violated vis-à-vis the date and amount of salaries transferred to the employees’ bank accounts.

The system will ensure salaries of all employees are mandatorily transferred to their bank accounts.

Through this system, the ministry will be able to monitor online the entire process of salary credit of employees, which will help in the event of disputes over non-payment.
