MUSCAT, MAY 16: In what is seen as a cost-cutting measure, the ministry of health is in the process of making amendments in the family status provided to all its female expatriate employees.

The ministry after receiving legal opinion has asked all the non-Omani employees to get the visas of their children transferred to the employers of their spouses.

A circular from the office of the deputy director general of administration and finance in the ministry says, “all female non-Omani members should transfer their children’s visas to their husbands’ employers in government or private sector”.

The order, which provides a period of three months to comply with, also states, “henceforth tickets or any financial compensation in lieu and free treatment shall not be provided to children who are under the visas of the ministry of health”.
