MUSCAT: The Ministry of Health (MoH), represented by Oman Nursing Institute (ONI), organised recently a workshop on Nursing Preceptorship at the Grand Hall of the Institute. The workshop held in the presence of Dr Qasim al Salmi, Director-General of the Royal Hospital, Dr Salim al Toobi, Dean of the Institute along with number of academic staff. The issues of the workshop focused on preparing counsellors, training the fresh nursing graduates, the partnership between the ONI and hospitals, as well as the continuing cooperation between the academic institutions and working fields at the various hospitals. The workshop covered several issues related to adult health including, the principles of adult learning, characteristics of a preceptor, the five step “Micro Skills” of clinical teaching and best practices of preceptorship. Dr Al Salmi also honoured the lecturers and organisers.
