MUSCAT: The Ministry of Education will open tomorrow at its headquarters a two-day discussion seminar on the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS 2015), under the patronage of Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education. The seminar aims to discuss the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS 2015) at the international, regional and governorates levels. It also aims to discuss the factors influencing the level of student performance, lessons learned from the TIMSS 2015 results, and how they should be used to develop the educational process.
The seminar will host the Chairperson of the International Association for Educational Assessment (IAEA), Anne Cavalli (pictured), who will present the key paper at the seminar, which will be about the Sultanate’s participation in the international studies. The seminar targets more than 100 teachers, educational supervisors, administrators, school principals, members of assessment and supervision from the MoE and representatives of some government institutions concerned with education, such as the Education Council, the Education Committees of the State Council and Majlis Ash’shura, MoHE and Sultan Qaboos University. — ONA
