MoCI starts survey on stock of industrial facilities

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has announced the launch of annual industrial survey to assess the working industrial facilities in the Sultanate which have an investment of more than RO 5,000 with a workforce of a minimum of 10 workers.


The survey is aimed at collecting the industrial data regarding the industrial facilities for the fiscal year 2016. The survey would last until July 8, 2017 in all governorates of the Sultanate. The survey will provide the ministry with an integrated industrial database to help in planning and set policies and developmental programmes.


The Director of Industrial Information Department, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Eng Saleh bin Mahmoud al Zadjali, said that 912 facilities are included in the industrial survey. Of these 560 are in the Governorate of Muscat, 88 in the Governorate of Dhofar, 67 in the Governorate of Al Buraimi, 47 in the Governorate of Al Sharqiyah South, 47 in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah, 28 in the Governorate of Al Dhahirah, 42 in the Governorate of Al Sharqiyah North, 25 in the Governorate of South Al Batinah and eight industrial facilities in the Governorate of Musandam, in addition to the free zones.


Eng Saleh Al Zadjali said, “The ministry undertakes the annual industrial survey that aims at providing a modern integrated database of the industrial sector in the Sultanate in order to use these data in setting plans, policies, programmes and other purposes that will help develop the Sultanate as the scan is performed electronically, in addition to field visits to the targeted facilities.”


Al Zadjali said that the forms for the industrial survey are available through electronic mail.


The Director of Industrial Information Department urged the owners of industrial facilities to cooperate with the experts of the ministry and submit the necessary forms of the industrial survey at the earliest.


He assured that all data submitted will be treated as confidential and won’t be used for any other purpose other than for planning and other studies in accordance with the Statistics Act issued by the Royal Decree No (29/2001).
