The Ministry of Tourism’s international office has been voted the best tourism office in France in 2017 at the prestigious ‘Victoires du Tourisme’ (Tourism Victories) Award organised by the Le Quotidien du Tourisme, a leading French travel magazine recently. The ‘Victoires du Tourisme’ recognises major contributions of business enterprises, travel agencies and tourism professionals operating in France. Readers of the Le Quotidien du Tourisme chose from different categories (airline, car rental, cruise company, recreation park, tour operator, hotel chain, insurance company, international office of tourism); and chose the partners they preferred to work with during the last twelve months on the basis of several parameters such as responsiveness, sense of innovation and generosity, to name a few.

Two rounds of votes were held before the final results were announced. The first round was held on April 19 where three finalists were selected in each category, the second round was conducted on May 5. Witnessing stiff competition in the first round, Oman was one among three finalists, along with Spain and South Africa.

Following the second round of voting, the winners were awarded their trophies at a gala dinner at the Intercontinental Paris Le Grand hotel, in the presence of prominent tourism industry professionals and under the patronage of the Undersecretary for Foreign Trade, Tourism Promotion and Foreign Affairs.

“The International Tourism Promotion team is delighted to have won the prestigious ‘Victoires du Tourisme’ award and the confidence of all those who voted for us”, said Salim Adi al Mamari, Director General of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Tourism. “The award is testimony to the dedication of our dynamic, responsive, and passionate team in France, and further reinstates the importance of having an exclusive Oman office for tourism in international markets.”

Rania Khodr, Director of the Oman Tourism Office in France said, “The Oman Tourism France team and I are very thankful and grateful for the continuous support of the Ministry of Tourism, the Embassy of Oman and all our other partners through the years. It is worth mentioning that French nationals reached 41,400 mark in the last year.”

She elaborated, “By winning this award, we are confident that we have been successful in placing the Sultanate of Oman on the tourism map for French travellers; and this is the best gift to commemorate 15 years of Oman Tourism in France. Many thanks to my team in France, the team at the Ministry of Tourism in Oman, and the Embassy of Oman for believing in us and the French market, we ensure you of our continuous and dedicated support.”
