Ministers, commanders visit exercise site

MUSCAT: A number of ministers and commanders on Sunday visited the site of the ‘Joint Effort Exercise 10’, which is carried out by the Sultanate at Muaskar Al Murtafa’a with the participation of a number of military, security and civil sectors. The exercise, which started on February 25, will run till March 19.

Upon arrival, they were received by Lt Gen Ahmed bin Harith al Nabhani, Chief of Staff of Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF), Director of Exercise; Maj Gen Matar bin Salim al Balushi, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), Commander of the Joint Troops; Air Vice Marshal Matar bin Ali al Obaidani, Commander of the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO), Head of Exercise Control; and Rear Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis al Raisi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO), Deputy Director of the Exercise.


At the beginning of the visit, SAF Chief of Staff gave an overview on the exercise and stressed its importance as a preparation for Shamoukh 2 and Swift Swords 3 exercises.


Brig General Mohammed bin Abdullah al Makhini, Head of the Planning Team for Shamoukh 2 and Swift Swords 3 exercises, gave a briefing on the exercise.


Gen Sultan bin Mohammed al Numani, Minister of the Royal Office, said in a statement that the ‘Joint Effort Exercise 10’ is a source of pride. Gathering all these security, military and civil organisations at this exercise proves that there has been a good planning by efficient people.


Sayyid Badr bin Saud al Busaidy, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs, said in a statement: “We have today reviewed the works of the cells and how they implement their duties and functions as per the plan of action for the exercise.


“The participants from the different diplomatic, media, economic, military and security sectors have shown harmony in their performance. This will achieve the prospective national aims from this exercise.”


Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, said: “We are happy for what we have seen. We are honoured to take part at this high-level exercise and the preparations to develop the joint effort in the Sultanate.


“The exercise helps in developing the skills of participants from the Foreign Ministry and channels efforts of the diplomats to the service of our dear nation. We will continue enhancing the skills of diplomats to provide the required support to SAF as well as to other security and military organisations.”
