Masairah: Within the context of the high care and attention paid by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces for His Majesty's courageous forces to enhance their capabilities to protect the country and its stability and preserve the gains of the blessed Renaissance, Sayyid Badr bin Saud bin Harib al Busaidi, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs today supervised in the field of training of the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) in the Wilayat of  Masairah the trial launching of the new missile defence system (BARQ), which the Sultanate contracted to buy from the American company Raytheon to supply RAFO with a number of air defence systems, which comes within the plans of modernization and development witnessed by RAFO along with the other corps of the Sultan's other armed forces under the glorious reign of His Majesty the Sultan, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.


The launching of the system was successful, as the rockets of the new system were able to his their targets accurately according to the plans to achieve the national objectives of acquiring this modern system.


The event was attended by Mohammed bin Nasser al-Rasbi,  Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defence, senior commanders of the Sultan's Armed Forces, other military and security services and  senior officers of the Sultan's Armed Forces. --ONA
