Mekunu: Indian community offers help

Salalah: The Indian Social Club in Salalah asked its members in the city to be ready to help people displaced due to the cyclone Mekunu.

Speaking to the Observer, Manpreet Singh, president of Indian Social Club Salalah, said, the local and national authorities are taking all measures, including setting of evacuation shelters, to help people in emergencies.

Meanwhile, the Indian School Salalah declared a day off for today as a precautionary measure, taking into consideration the heavy rains expected in Dhofar region.

As some places like Sadah and Mirbat have been experiencing light to moderate rains, flowing wadis and flooding of roads can cause difficulties for students while coming to and from school, said  C M  Najeeb, director in charge, Indian School, Salalah.
