Masirah: A meeting was held at the Wali of Masirah Office in South Al Sharqiyah on Thursday to prepare for the 1st International Championship for Tent Pegging, scheduled to be held in the Wilayat of Masirah in February.

The meeting was chaired by Talal bin Saif al Hosni, Wali of Masirah in the presence of Mohammed bin Issa al Fairouz, Chairman of the International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF). The Wali of Masirah said such international events would further boost Oman’s tourism, besides highlighting the pure Arabian sport. He said the selection of Masirah to host the event is due to beauty and serenity enjoyed by these beaches. Al Fairouz said that the championship will attract attention to Masirah as a unique tourist destination with its marvelous beaches. He also called to highlight the craft identity of Masirah through craftsmen and various Omani traditional arts bands. At the end of the meeting, participants at the meeting visited Al Aijah Beach, site of event behind the Masirah Resort.
