Medical, nursing graduates take oath

MUSCAT: The Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) on Sunday celebrated the oath-taking ceremony of medical and nursing graduates under the patronage of Dr Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, Vice-Chancellor of SQU.


A total of 117 medical graduates from College of Medicine & Health Sciences and 100 nursing graduates from College of Nursing took oath.


They include 44 male doctors and 73 female doctors from the College of Medicine, and 18 male and 82 female nurses from the College of Nursing.


Addressing the new graduates, Dr Omar Al Rawajfah, Dean of College of Nursing, called upon the new graduates to abide by the hallowed ethics of the medical and nursing professions that show respect for sanctity of life and selfless service to humanity. “As young doctors and nurses, you must recognise the humanitarian nature of the professions you have chosen.”


He urged them to demonstrate the skills and qualities they acquired during their training in the colleges.

Dr Muna Ahmed al Saadon, Assistant Dean-Clinical, College of Medicine, administered the oath for medical graduates and Dr Huda Al Noumani, Assistant Dean for Training and Community Services, College of Nursing, for nursing graduates.


Representing the graduates, Salim Bader al Ruqaishi from the College of Medicine & Health Sciences, and Thaghreed Hamed al Mehrezi from the College of Nursing delivered talks.


The graduates thanked authorities of the university, teachers as well as parents and guardians for giving them an opportunity to realise their dreams. They said the oath-taking ceremony marked the beginning of a long and fulfilling career for them.
