Media excellence contest unveiled

MUSCAT: Ali bin Khalfan al Jabri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, on Tuesday launched the sixth version of Media Excellence Competition 2017.  In journalism field, the competition will have five themes namely the best journalism news, article, feature, interview and photograph. He pointed out at the press conference which was held at the Ministry of Information HQs’ in the presence of Dr Abdulmunim bin Mansour al Hasani, Minister of Information, that the organisation of the competition comes in a bid to achieve the Ministry’s aims and mission with relation to developing all tools of media work. He added that the media system started giving fruition of the care accorded to it since the dawn of the blessed Renaissance under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos.


He added that the competition will be held every year and each year it will focus on a different theme. He noted that the coming years’ themes will focus on radio, T.V or e-journalism fields. “There will be awards for the top positions at each of the five themes, in addition to an award for media students at higher education institutions,” he furthered. The minister said the Media Excellence Award this year is a continuation of the award which was launched in the past years. “The award aims at encouraging media professionals and students in the Sultanate to develop themselves at the media organisations they work for”, he concluded. — ONA
