MUSCAT, JAN 10 –
Awasr, the Sultanate’s premier provider of specialised broadband Internet services, organised a high profile event to celebrate the success of the first phase of its MASAR programme.
MASAR was launched in July 2016 in collaboration with the College of Commerce and Political Science of the Sultan Qaboos University to empower Omani youth in the local market. It also seeks to equip them with professional experience that complements what they have learned at the college. It is a real partnership with college students as it inspires them to start their own businesses by signing short-to-medium-term contracts with Awasr in marketing, sales, engineering, operations, customer services, etc.
The event was held under the patronage of Her Highness Sayyida Dr Mona bint Fahd al Said, Assistant Vice Chancellor for International Cooperation at Sultan Qaboos University, who was the chief guest on the occasion. It also witnessed the participation of His Highness Sayyid Taimur bin Asaad al Said, Engineer Al Fadhal bin Abbas al Hinai, CEO of Awasr and a number of top officials from Awasr and Sultan Qaboos University.
The MASAR programme offers students of the College of Commerce and Political Science of the Sultan Qaboos University unique opportunities to start their companies and win contracts to run a business. The programme helps them enhance the principles of entrepreneurship and take partnership to the next level after they graduate from the college.
MASAR is designed as an innovative programme to meet the needs and requirements of the local market and provide trainees with a rewarding and enriching professional experience that will help reinforce their capabilities, hone their skills, enable them to exchange knowledge and establish companies that function within Awasr.
