Man held for murder in Mabella

MUSCAT: The Department of Inquiries and Criminal Investigation at Al Khoudh Police Station arrested an Asian man in connection with a murder that occurred in Al Mabella.


An official at Al Khoudh Police Station said that the police station received a report about an Asian man’s body lying in the street in Al Mabella. The police arrived at the crime scene and by examining the body they found that the victim had been strangled to death.


The efforts made by the inquiries and criminal investigation department led to the murder suspect, the official said adding that the cause of the crime was the victim’s failure to pay off a debt due to the accused. The police took legal action and the defendant was referred to the public prosecution.


Drug dealer held at Muscat airport


The Directorate-General for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances arrested an Asian man for attempting to smuggle more than 300 tablets of psychotropic substances into the Sultanate via Muscat International Airport. The defendant was referred to the public prosecution for completion of the investigation.


Three held for robbery


The Department of Inquires and Criminal Investigation at Muscat Governorate Police Command arrested three persons for robbing more than RO 88,000 in Bausher.


An official said that one of the criminals followed the victim when he left the bank and followed his car. He then deliberately crashed into the back of the victim’s car. The two culprits got out of their vehicle assaulted the victim and stole the vehicle along with the money. The third defendant, an employee at the bank, provided information to his partners.


Man held for selling liquor


The Department of Inquires and Criminal Investigations at Al Dakhiliyah Governorate Police Command arrested an Asian man on charges of possessing and selling of liquor in Karshaa area in Nizwa.


Police raided the defendant’s house where they found more than 1,000 bottles of liquor. The defendant was referred to the public prosecution for completion of the investigation.
