Majlis Ash’shura participates in APA meetings in Istanbul

ISTANBUL: The Sultanate represented by Majlis Ash’shura is participating in the 10th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), being held in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey, from November 21-24. The delegation includes Salim bin Said al Maliki, Nasser bin Humaid al Ameri and Ahmed bin Mubarak bin Said al Hadhari. The Asian Parliamentary Assembly discussed ‘Sustaining Peace and Development in Asia’ which aims at fighting terrorism, drying up its sources and increasing the rate of economic, political and other cooperation among Asian countries.


The tenth plenary session began with an introductory speech by Ismail Kahraman, Speaker of the Turkish National Assembly, in which he addressed the combating of terrorism and advocacy of the Palestinian cause and urged everyone to provide urgent assistance to the Syrian and Yemeni people.


The meeting will discuss the report of the meeting of the Second Executive Board, the report of the APA Secretary General on the work of the Assembly, reviewing of the recommendations in the plenary session for adoption, the re-affirmation of the candidacy for the position of Vice-President of the APA in 2018, in addition to electing chairman for the session and a number of topics on the agenda related to strengthening of cooperation between APA and the Governments of Member States. — ONA
