Majlis Ash’shura discusses effects of economic crisis on society

MUSCAT: Majlis Ash’shura ad hoc committee for addressing implications of the economic crisis and its effects on the Omani society held a meeting on Wednesday chaired by Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura. The committee discussed the current implications of oil price drop on social housing for low income families. It also discussed effect of fuel price hike on vehicle and school bus owners. The Committee also discussed unemployment and provided its recommendations in this regard. The Committee proposed several solutions and procedures to increase revenues, reduce public expenditure and alleviate the effect of the crisis on low income families. Further, the Committee said that its seeks to come up with proposals that provide sustainable financial alternatives and solutions for the national economy growth. — ONA
