MUSCAT: Lulu, in association with the Ministry of Social Welfare, has embarked on an ambitious project titled ‘Together Let’s Give’ a charity programme to coincide with the Holy Month of Ramadhan this year. The theme of the initiative was announced on Monday at a signing event held at the Oman Avenues Mall. The initiative is to be monitored by the Ministry of Social Development and is expected to be a well-meaning exercise that would leave a profound impression in the lives of many citizens and to the community in general.

The initiative was officially signed off by Shaikh Dr Yahya bin Mohammed bin Zaher al Hinai, Acting Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development, and Ananth A V, Director, Oman & India, Lulu Group, in the presence of senior officials from both the organisations.

“We are pleased to partner with Lulu on this initiative and hope that it becomes an annual event and opens up a way for other corporates to follow. Today, we take a small step in the form of a donation which Lulu will also reciprocate with and we expect this initiative to help support the needy and underprivileged in our society,” said, Yahya bin Mohammed bin Zaher al Hinai.

Together Let’s Give is a small attempt to reach out to the less fortunate and needy and fulfil an obligation to fellow humans. While the initiative is powered by the will of the contributor, Lulu on its part would contribute an equal value from its part to the corpus.

The initiative’s primary aim is to reach out to as many people in neighbourhood community and be the torch bearer of Lulu Group’s central philosophy of enhancing the quality of life of people. The initiative works on a simple mechanism wherein customers can contribute a Ramadhan Charity Box worth RO 20/- with essential provisions and Lulu on its part would donate an equal portion to the programme. The entire collection would then be distributed amongst the needy under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Social Development.

“We are indeed privileged to be a part of this initiative and are thankful to the Ministry of Social Development for the guidance and advice they have shared with us. We hope to play our part responsibly and to contribute meaningfully in the true spirit of the Holy Month and making it a success. We wish the initiative gathers enough momentum and encourage our customers to be a part and do good,” said A V Ananth at the event.
