MUSCAT, Aug 15 - The last flight to carry Haj pilgrims from the Sultanate left for Saudi Arabia on Wednesday night, said Abdulaziz al Ghafri. Ninety per cent of the pilgrims from the Sultanate have already reached Saudi Arabia. A total of 14,000 pilgrims, including Omanis and expats, will carry out religious rituals at this year’s Haj. “The total number of people from Oman who reached Madina as of Wednesday is 11,673. They will go to Mecca in several groups. “Of these, 7,779 Hajis arrived by air and 3,594 pilgrims by road,” Al Ghafri told the Observer from Saudi. These pilgrims will stay in Mecca until 8th of Dhul Hijjah and then proceed to Mina and Arafah, followed by Eid al Adha on Tuesday.
