Kvitova back into top 10 of world tennis rankings

Berlin: Petra Kvitova returned to the top 10 of the world rankings for the first time since being injured in a knife attack in late 2016 on Monday.


The Czech Kvitova continued her superb form with victory in Qatar on Sunday to go 10th in the latest standings released by the WTA.


Kvitova defeated Caroline Wozniacki in the semifinals of that tournament but the Dane remains top of the rankings on 8,010 points.


Spain’s Garbine Muguruza, beaten finalist in Qatar, moved up a spot to third by overtaking Elina Svitolina of the Ukraine.
