MUSCAT: Aligned with one of its aim of fostering a culture of learning, the leading knowledge sharing platform in the Sultanate, Knowledge Oman, is launching “Knowledge Oman Book Review” — an initiative wherein interested members from the community attend, learn and exchange insights with like-minded people who aspire to learn and exchange knowledge.

“The importance of reading a book cannot be underestimated and we do realise that reading a book takes time. Therefore, we have decided to come up with an initiative that raises awareness about the importance of reading and gets the society closer by helping people get the gist and learnings from a book through a review on a monthly basis,” said Tushar Vakil, Project Manager, Knowledge Oman Book Review.

In the programme, every month, Knowledge Oman in partnership with various industries, will hold a free book review event for the society where a volunteer will read a non-fiction book of general interest and present the main ideas in the book in about an hours’ time.

There will be additional 15 minutes for questions and discussion from the members.

The 1st book review session will be held at the Panorama Mall Atrium section, free for the registered public to attend on October 24 at 7 pm. Registration to the book review is mandatory at www.knowledgeoman.com/book

In order to maximise the learnings and application of the insights from a book, Knowledge Oman also launched a special social media page for the readers and reviewers to get connected, discuss, interact and share learnings of a book.

The link is accessible free for the professionals to get engaged with learning from the website.

Knowledge Oman’s mission is to connect communities with knowledge.

The KO Book Review project aspires to raise awareness about the importance of reading and to encourage the community to pick up the reading habit.

Since April 2008, Knowledge Oman has been actively engaged in launching initiatives that support His Majesty the Sultan Qaboos vision of transforming Oman into a Knowledge Base society.
