Kenya’s Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge underlined his status as the world’s best current long-distance runner by winning the Berlin Marathon on Sunday. Kipchoge clocked an official time of 2 hours, 3 minutes 32 seconds after beating Ethiopia’s Guye Adola, who finished 14 seconds back on his debut at the distance (42.195km, 26.219 mi). Ethiopia’s Mosinet Geremew finished third. In women’s race, Kenya’s Gladys Cherono won in 02:20:23 with Ruti Aga of Ethiopia second and Valary Aiyabei of Kenya third.
