DUBAI: The Middle East Regional Office of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) has announced the election of Khalid bin Waleed al Zadjali, Director of Oman Office for Conferences at the Ministry of Tourism, as ICCA Deputy Chairman. The 73 members of the regional office elected Al Zadjali from among three candidates for the position. The Amsterdam-based ICCA is the biggest international specialised association. It represents the international associations that organise conferences, forums and meetings. It has more than 1,100 members and specialised companies from about 100 countries round the world.

ICCA has regional offices in Malaysia, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, USA and Uruguay. ICCA this year marks its 55th anniversary of leading and specialised work in tourism works as it was launched in 1963. Khalid bin Waleed al Zadjali is currently the Director of Oman Office for Conferences at the Ministry of Tourism since the establishment of the office in March 2016. The office supervises efforts to promote the Sultanate as a hub for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events (MICE) tourism. The office also submits the official dossiers to the international associations and organisations to host conferences, meetings and events in cooperation with the relevant authorities and organisations in the Sultanate. — ONA
