He added that experts from the United Kingdom will lecture at the workshop during which they will meet with specialists in the competent judicial and law enforcement authorities in the Sultanate to learn about the techniques and methods of dealing with juvenile cases.

Twenty participants representing stakeholders, Public Prosecution, the judiciary, Royal Oman Police (ROP) and the Ministry of Social Development are participating in the workshop which aims to acquaint the judges, ROP Public Prosecution officers, and specialists from the Ministry of Social Development dealing with juvenile cases with investigation methods, the foundations of the application of judicial judgments and the challenges facing them.

John Wilkes said that “the training workshop comes as a fruit of cooperation between the Embassy of the United Kingdom in the Sultanate and Public Persecution in the field of training and with the participation of relevant entities in this aspect.”  He added that the workshop will present the latest methods applied in Britain to deal with the events and how to harmonise them with the laws and culture of Oman on the juvenile events and issues, adding that these methods are concerned with the so-called alternative sanction, that is, dealing with the juvenile as the perpetrator of the crime, and even as a victim. — ONA
